We are proud to welcome Dr. Martin Romitti, Director of Economic and Public Policy Research at the University of Massachusetts Donahue Institute, for a presentation with REMI economist Scott Nystrom on the potential economic impact of federal sequestration cuts. These automatic cuts, enacted as a part of the debt ceiling and “Super Committee” debates of last year, will trim $1.2 trillion from federal spending over the next decade. Using a national model of the United States’ economy, we examine the potential losses and gains from federal sequestration including its impacts on specific states, governments, industry clusters, overall growth and job creation.
