Regional Economic Models, Inc. (REMI) is excited to announce the Great Lakes Transportation and Economic Development Conference and would like to extend an invitation for you to join us. The conference will be held in Ann Arbor, Michigan, from June 26th through June 27th.

The conference will focus primarily on transportation and economic development research conducted by REMI and our users.

Our presentations will include:

• Regional Planning for Transit-Oriented Development (TOD): This presentation will discuss project analysis and strategies for TOD, including developing industry clusters, incremental financing, and successful accounts of past applications of TOD and economic modeling.
• Regional Forecasts for Activity-Based Travel Demand Models (TDMs): As regional forecasting of household and zonal characteristics continue to play a critical role in the use of activity-based TDMs, these models depend on three inputs to estimate travel demand: household, zonal and network data. This presentation will discuss how macroeconomic forces drive growth in population and economic output, leading to new residential, commercial and industrial development.
• Creative Financing Methods to Support and Fund Projects: As the nation’s demand for an improved infrastructure increases, each region must find new ways to support the maintenance of existing infrastructure and future expansion projects. TranSight allows users to be creative in determining the various ways to fund projects. If a corridor expansion serves a high volume of commuters, perhaps an increased toll fee is an option to fund maintenance of the network. Or, if a new interchange lowers transportation costs for a nearby manufacturing sector, the region could consider a Public-Private Partnership with that industry. During this presentation, we will explore the ways in which users can utilize TranSight to experiment with a variety of project financing options.
