REMI Webinar: Tax Incentives and Energy Savings

Presented by John Bennett, Senior Economic Associate

July 25, 2017 - July 27, 2017
2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

To encourage energy efficiency in commercial buildings, lawmakers created a federal tax deduction in 2005 for qualifying building improvements. That program, Section 179D of the Energy Policy Act of 2005, has since expired and been reinstated multiple times, most recently expiring on December 31, 2016.

In a recent analysis, REMI evaluated the economic impacts of reauthorizing and enhancing Section 179D under various scenarios. You can learn more about the study by checking out an announcement from the American Institute of Architects (AIA), one of the study’s sponsors.

We are offering a webinar on July 25 and 27 from 2 to 3 p.m. EST, in which we will review the results of our analysis, highlighting the effects on jobs, personal income, and gross domestic product from reinstating and/or modifying Section 179D. We will also describe how we evaluated the policy options using the REMI PI+ model.

In addition to AIA, the report was also sponsored by Alliant Group LP, Ameresco, Blue Energy Group, Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International, Concord Energy Strategies, Energy Tax Savers, Energy Systems Group, National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).

Following the presentation, attendees will have an opportunity to engage in Q&A.

This presentation will be approximately one hour in length, and we offer it at no charge via the Citrix GotoWebinar web conferencing platform. Advanced registration is required; please click here to register.
