Topics will include:

  • REMI PI+ and TranSight: Understanding the Economic Implications of Policy Decisions:
This presentation offers a comprehensive introduction to the REMI models.

  • Mileage Tax: Money for Miles
Using REMI TranSight 3.0, we will assess the economic impacts of implementing a mileage tax on drivers, as opposed to a gas tax. We will examine the various methods of implementing this program and the effects they will have on drivers.

  • Public Transit: Transportation on a Budget
We will analyze the effects of recent budget cuts on public transit agencies. We will model the different ways in which these agencies are coping with cuts in tandem with the impacts of these policy changes on passengers.

  • Hands on Model Demonstration
We will use REMI PI+ to model changes in energy prices.

  • Unemployment: When the Benefits Run Out
We will use REMI PI+ to examine the effects of the end of unemployment benefits for those who were laid off in the beginning of the current economic downturn. We will also look at the consequences for those states which are extending these benefits due to this crisis.

*We will also feature hands-on training with our REMI demo model in the afternoon, so please bring your laptops if you would like to participate.
