REMI 2010 PI+ Training Series
REMI (Regional Economic Models, Inc.) is offering a six-session online training series from February through April of 2010. These sessions are designed for those with any interest in or familiarity with PI+ and its predecessor, Policy Insight. Each presentation will show how PI+ can help evaluate relevant aspects of the economy.
Each session is offered with four date options (Monday through Thursday) and will last approximately one hour in length. Please note: There will be no Monday session the week of the second session because of the holiday.
While participants need not attend all sessions, we strongly encourage you to do so. All presentations are offered free of charge at 2:00pm EST through our online WebEx conferencing system. Please click the following links to register:
Session 1: Introduction to PI+
In this session we will introduce attendees to the series and the PI+ model. After this session, attendees should be comfortable navigating the software.

Session 2: Competitive Advantages
What is the baseline, how can it be used, and when should it be changed? After this session, attendees should be able to answer these questions.

Session 3: The Power of People
PI+ includes a comprehensive demographic component that interacts with the model's economic components. After this session, attendees will be familiar with the types of migrants, special populations, and their effects on the regional economy.

Session 4: Fiscal Transparency
This session will lift the cover off of the fiscal concepts in the model. After this session, attendees should know how to model various tax schemes and government spending changes.

Session 5: TranSight: The Road to Somewhere
Transportation and infrastructure improvements have been and will be a major focus of the federal government as part of the ARRA. This session will introduce REMI's transportation model, TranSight, and issues related to the economic impacts of transportation. After this session, attendees should be familiar with the capabilities of TranSight and know how to frame a basic transportation analysis scenario.

Session 6: Conclusion
This session will recap and review the subject matter of the entire series with a focus on the main points and important take-aways.
