"Economic Implications of Policy Decisions”
Presented by Chris Brown and Michael Fitzgerald
9:00am-3:00pm

Atlanta Regional Commission
40 Courtland Street, NE
Atlanta, GA 30303

Topics will include:

  • REMI PI+ and TranSight: Understanding the Economic Implications of Policy Decisions:
This presentation offers a comprehensive introduction to the REMI models.

  • Understanding the Sustainability of Jobs from Federal Spending
Inspired by the recent budget proposal, we will examine how federal spending contributes to job creation in the short- and long-term. This presentation will use REMI PI+ to simulate several different policy scenarios that have vastly different implications for creating sustainable growth.

  • Transportation and Livability
This presentation will explore the technical capabilities of TranSight to address the economic impacts of our nation’s long-term transit goals. We will focus on evaluating projects at the regional level based on their long-term return and job creation given the regional differences.

  • Climate: Tools for Evaluating Climate Policies
Climate policies raise a number of issues for industries as well as consumers. We’ll address those issues in both the short and long-term as seen through the REMI models.

  • REMI PI+: Navigating Through the Linkages
Analytical graphs within the model illustrate cause-and-effect relationships between economic variables, and we’ll explore how to use the graphs to construct a detailed story of economic impacts. We’ll also examine the model linkages to show the interconnectivity of the model’s macroeconomic concepts.

  • Hands-on training with REMI models (please bring a laptop)

At REMI, our goal is to improve public policy. The information presented at this seminar will enable you to make more detailed and efficient forecasts about the economic effects of policy changes. There is no charge to attend this event; however, space is limited and advanced registration is required.
