Machine Learning Intern
Regional Economic Models, Inc. (REMI) is seeking a Machine Learning Intern to assist in enhancing our economic data processing pipeline. The primary focus will be on solving time series data suppression challenges and supporting our constraint optimization system by providing improved estimates using advanced ML techniques. Candidates will be expected to work 20 hours a week. REMI Research and Development Full stack positions will be located in the REMI Amherst, MA office.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement machine learning models for time series forecasting and anomaly detection.
- Collaborate with the team to integrate ML-driven estimates into our existing optimization framework.
- Analyze large-scale economic datasets and identify patterns to improve data accuracy.
- Document methodologies and present findings to stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms, especially those applicable to time series data.
- Experience with Python and ML libraries such TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, pandas.
- Familiarity with optimization techniques and statistical modeling.
- Solid programming skills and ability to write clean, efficient code.
- Knowledge of economic or financial data is a plus but not mandatory.
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to constraint optimization or operations research.
- Experience with data preprocessing and handling missing or suppressed data.
- Ability to work independently and communicate technical concepts clearly.
