On Wednesday, July 22nd from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. (ET), REMI Economist Jungjun Park, Ph.D. will be presenting the special REMI webinar, “Re-opening Schools & Universities: Examining the Economic Effects using IQ+™,” that evaluates the effects of decreased economic activity resulting from school closures and state shutdowns continuing into the fall semester.

This webinar will also serve as the official launch of our new REMI IQ+ model that we designed to forecast the future of a region through quarterly economic projections and scenario analyses.

With IQ+, users can assess the employment and tax revenue impacts associated with re-opening various educational institutions, as well as identify potential policy interventions to implement in order to mitigate the losses related to schools remaining closed in September.

The economic influence of COVID-19 has spread across the nation and disrupted businesses of all sizes within almost every industry. During this model launch presentation, Dr. Park will describe how our new IQ+ software projects a region’s economic activity on a quarterly basis, addresses difficult “what if…?” policy questions, and examines the impacts of economic shutdowns or re-openings by quarter out to the year 2023.
