Chicago, IL – “Policy in the Trump Era”

How do you anticipate future consequences of policies at a time of political and technological upheaval? We’re living through one such era – with President Trump and Congressional Republicans attempting to overhaul taxation, regulations, and health care while, at the same time, tech entrepreneurs are transforming how we drive, shop, and conduct business.

Please join us for a daylong conference, “Policy in the Trump Era”, in Chicago, Illinois on December 5th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. REMI CEO and Chief Economist Fred Treyz, Ph.D. will be joined by REMI Economist Peter Evangelakis, Ph.D. as they examine today’s most pressing topics from the vantage of dynamic economic analysis.

We will address the employment and other economic effects of major policies:

  • Transportation Innovation: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly: The auto industry is undergoing significant changes. Advancements in automation and safety will have major economic effects on manufacturing regions.
  • Opioid Epidemic: What We’ve Lost: The rapidly increasing need for treatment and prevention options to counteract our nation’s widespread opioid epidemic has direct and indirect effects on our regional, state, and federal economies.
  • Family Medical Leave: Economic Case Study: We will use an example study from the District of Columbia to demonstrate the economic modeling of labor policies.
  • Immigration Policy: Reform? Deport? Economic Effects: Federal immigration policy is a hot-button topic that stirs strong emotions. But objective economic policy analysis can clarify the issue and explain the differences between comprehensive and enforcement-only options.
  • Amazon HQ2 in Chicago: Economic Impact Analysis: Dr. Hector Vielma, Senior Economist for the Illinois Department of Revenue, will be using the example of Amazon’s current search for a second headquarters to illustrate the economic effects of a major city like Chicago acquiring a premier tech powerhouse such as Amazon.

We’re offering this conference at no charge, although we ask that you register in advance. If you would like to attend this event, please email Brian Boyd at brian.boyd@remi.com or contact us by phone at (413) 549-1169.

REMI Users’ Conference 2017 – Charleston, SC

Thank you for joining us in Charleston, South Carolina for the 32nd Annual REMI Users’ Conference. We are truly grateful to everyone who attended and helped make this conference the largest and most successful to date.

Following our tradition, attendees voted on the location for the 2018 Users’ Conference, and they picked San Diego! We are already planning ahead for what we anticipate will be another exciting event – this time along the beaches of Southern California!

Charleston was a wonderful host city for the Users’ Conference. The attendees enjoyed staying right in the heart of the historic downtown, with easy access to excellent restaurants and other attractions. This year’s group activity was a beautiful cruise out to Fort Sumter, taking full advantage of the amazing weather and a sweeping view of Charleston.

Stay tuned for details about the 2018 conference. We hope to see you next year in San Diego. For your information, you can see a list of everyone who attended the three-day conference by clicking here.
