Modest, but steady economic and population growth happens if the state leaves the air station open for business, while a base closure will result in the relocation of around 2,700 active-duty military positions and roughly 700 civilian jobs. State output stands to drop by $370 million to $390 million if the base closes, which actually corresponds to less than 1% of forecasted Maine Gross State Product.
