According to a survey administered by the National Association for Business Economics, there is a 60% chance that a recession could occur by the end of 2020. Despite these odds, state funding and surpluses can only be accessed to combat the most mild of economic slowdowns.
Prioritizing government spending and finance options can be achieved within REMI’s dynamic modeling software. Analysts in numerous industries utilize the REMI suite of models to examine and describe the impacts and effects of various improvements and public policies.
This includes the economic effects of transportation improvements, the financial considerations associated with raising the minimum wage, the employment impacts of incentives and tax policy changes, and the economic implications of energy and environmental regulations.
An overview of the nation’s macroeconomic outlook, a demonstration on how to perform economic policy analysis, and the introduction of the newly-added project prioritization feature in our modeling software will be provided as part of this luncheon presentation.

SPEAKERS
Harry Walsh
REMI
Harry Walsh is an Economic Associate at REMI, responsible for client support and business development. Since joining REMI, Mr. Walsh has assisted with model calibrations for clients and software quality assurance. He has also contributed to REMI’s outward facing efforts, including the development of the company’s new website and preparing seminar presentations incorporating the REMI model. Prior to REMI, he worked as an intern at the Massachusetts State House of Representatives, where he delivered daily briefings to a representative and researched a bond bill in debate. While at UMass Amherst, Mr. Walsh was an elected leader of the Undergraduate Economics Club, and served as editor-in-chief for the Massachusetts Undergraduate Journal of Economics. Mr. Walsh graduated from UMass Amherst with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.
Mike Bobay
REMI
Mike Bobay is an Economic Associate at REMI, where he is responsible for business development and client support. Mr. Bobay earned his bachelor’s degree in Economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech), where he was an Economics tutor for the Econ Club and a member of the Finance Club. He has served in several leadership positions during his time as an intern and volunteer, performing project management, treasury, and mentor responsibilities.
