Info

Populist ideas have captured the hearts and minds of voters. While solutions offered by these movements can be simplistic, the proposals also may reflect valid issues worthy of consideration.
Economic analysis can serve as a way of examining proposals and shaping them into practical policies. Nonpartisan evaluation of economic impacts can contribute to the dialogue at a time when populism is galvanizing both the right and left.
Please join REMI Senior Economist Peter Evangelakis, Ph.D. and Economic Associate Harry Walsh at the upcoming policy luncheon in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, February 19th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for their presentation titled “Populism, Policy Analysis and the Economy.”
The history and recent examples of populism will be discussed, along with the economic, demographic, and fiscal implications of populist proposals. This presentation also examines populist ideas as they apply to economic development, transportation, energy, health care, the environment, minimum income, and more.
We’re offering this event free of charge; however, we do ask that you register in advance. If you would like to attend this event, please email Brian Boyd at brian.boyd@wp.remi.com, contact us by phone at (413) 549-1169, or fill out the registration page for this event.
