Info

President Trump’s aluminum and steel tariff proposal took policy makers and businesses by surprise. The impacts of tariffs will ripple through the broader economy, resulting in consequences for many states and industries even if they are not directly affected.
REMI cordially invites you to our luncheon presentation in Richmond, Virginia on Wednesday, April 25th, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. when REMI Economist Peter Evangelakis, Ph.D. will explore the use of dynamic economic modeling in evaluating the regional impacts of trade policies.
For this presentation, Dr. Evangelakis will discuss approaches for using the REMI model to evaluate the total economic benefits and costs of tariffs, and how to analyze the implications on the national and state level. Taking a closer look at one example of economic impact analysis, he will consider a report by NERA Economic Consulting, which estimated outcomes from a 7 percent across-the-board tariff on aluminum imports using the REMI model.
We’re offering this event free of charge, and lunch will be provided. We do ask that you register in advance. If you would like to attend this event, please email Alexander Arthen-Cheyne at alexander.arthen-cheyne@wp.remi.com, contact us by phone at (413)549-1169, or fill out the registration page for this event.
