Tallahassee, FL Luncheon – Tariffs and the Economy

Info

President Trump stunned policy makers and the markets with his announcement of aluminum and steel tariffs. The news raises questions about tariffs and their impacts on not only the protected industries, but international supply chains and the broader U.S. economy.

REMI cordially invites you to our luncheon presentation in Tallahassee, Florida on Thursday, May 10th, 2018 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. when REMI Managing Economic Associate Chris Judson will briefly review a study on aluminum tariffs authored by NERA Economic Consulting using REMI’s economic modeling software in order to explain how to anticipate the effects of trade restrictions.

The NERA analysis, which was conducted with a REMI economic model, addressed the potential impacts on output, income, and total employment resulting from a 7 percent across-the-board tariff on aluminum imports. For this presentation, Mr. Judson will examine the role of dynamic economic modeling in answering the most pressing policy questions inspired by President Trump’s recent decision.

We will also be examining the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council’s Transportation Project Evaluation and how the organization analyzed the effects of traffic congestion in Tampa. Mr. Judson will be assessing a study by the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council on using the REMI model to identify the potential impacts of corridor expansion on employment and gross domestic product.

We’re offering this event free of charge, and lunch will be provided. We do ask that you register in advance. If you would like to attend this event, please email Alexander Arthen-Cheyne at alexander.arthen-cheyne@wp.remi.com, contact us by phone at (413)549-1169, or fill out the registration page for this event.
