The $15 minimum wage generates much debate across the country. Will the higher wage help workers, or limit job opportunities? And how does a minimum wage increase interact with other policies, such as the earned income tax credit (EITC)?
REMI cordially invites you to a guest luncheon presentation in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, November 29th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. by Fahad Fahimullah, a Fiscal Analyst at the D.C. Office of Revenue Analysis, titled “Earnings, EITC, and Employment Responses to a $15 Minimum Wage: Will Low-Income Workers Be Better Off?”
The District of Columbia will increase its minimum wage to $15 per hour in 2020. Using a general equilibrium model, the D.C. Office of Revenue Analysis estimated the economic impact of the $15 wage policy. The Office also used a tax policy micro-simulation model to estimate how the city’s EITC program interacts with a higher minimum wage.
For his presentation, Mr. Fahimullah will discuss the findings and explain the methodologies behind the research.
