Public transit systems contribute directly to the health of our economy at the local, state, regional and national levels.
Transit infrastructure provides a commuting alternative for the workforce and produces a wide array of critical economic, social, and environmental impacts. Planners need to analyze how potential transit projects shape regional economies, influence labor markets, impact different demographic groups, and affect emissions of a variety of pollutants.
We will be hosting our upcoming Washington, D.C. policy luncheon, “The Economic Impacts of Transit Infrastructure on Regional Economies,” on Thursday, September 30th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Metro Center.
This presentation will feature guest speaker Federico Garcia, Ph.D., Managing Director at KPMG. His presentation will provide a detailed overview of the economic, equitable, and environmental effects of transit investments using the REMI regional input-output model.
