Info

REMI’s annual conference in Ann Arbor, Michigan to be held on Wednesday, August 8th, 2018 will explore how to produce comprehensive economic and demographic analysis using the most up-to-date REMI modeling software.
The one-day event, “REMI 2018 Great Lakes Policy Analysis Conference,” will delve into timely topics, including trade, transportation, regional demographic change, and immigration. We will be providing an overview of the new features in REMI 2.2 and sharing lessons in economic modeling best practices.
We will also feature guest presentations by Jim Robey, Ph.D., Director of Regional Economic Planning Services at the W.E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research, and Gabriel Ehrlich, Ph.D., Director of the University of Michigan’s Research Seminar in Quantitative Economics (RSQE). Dr. Robey’s presentation will use current examples of studies in progress from health care and leisure services to help define how legitimate impacts may be estimated in these industries with the correct questions and data, while Dr. Ehrlich’s discussion focuses on an economic and fiscal impact assessment of Bedrock Management Services’ Transformational Brownfield Plan conducted in Michigan.
The current political environment offers both challenges and opportunities for policy making on a state and regional level. We will address how to evaluate complex and contentious issues with objective dynamic policy analysis. You also will have an opportunity to speak one-on-one with REMI staff.
