October 16-18, 2019
Hotel Santa Fe

Thank you to those who joined us in Santa Fe, New Mexico for the 2019 Annual REMI Users’ Conference. We are truly grateful for everyone who attended and helped make the conference a success. We appreciate the great interest in this year’s event and hope that those who could not participate can make it next year.
Speakers shared their insights on a range of vital subjects from energy and resiliency to housing policy and economic development. We also recognized oustanding analysis through the George I. Treyz Award for Excellence in Economic and Demographic Analysis. Our judges received a number of excellent papers to consider.
We honored the authors of three papers with the George I. Treyz Award:
Gold
Earnings, EITC, and Employment Responses to a $15 Minimum Wage: Will Low-Income Workers Be Better Off?
Fahad Fahimullah, Yi Geng, Bradley Hardy, Daniel Muhammad, & Jeffrey Wilkins
Silver
An Analysis of the Economic Effects of the HayWired Scenario Using the ABAG REMI Model
Cynthia Kroll, Bobby Lu, Aksel Olsen, & Anne Wein
Bronze
Housing Underproduction in the U.S.: Economic, Fiscal, and Environmental Impacts of Enabling Transit-Oriented Accessible Growth to Address America’s Housing Affordability Challenge
Madeline Baron, Marley Buchman, Mike Kingsella, Randall Pozdena, & Michael Wilkerson
In addition to recognizing the best work, we also presented the George A. Fulton Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Economic and Demographic Analysis to Peter J. Walley, who recently retired from his position as Director of Long-Range Economic Development Planning at the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning.
Santa Fe was a wonderful host city for the 2019 REMI Users’ Conference. Attendees enjoyed their stay at the Hotel Santa Fe. We experienced the local Pueblo architecture and a group outing to the immersive Meow Wolf experience.
We would like to extend a special thank you to everyone who presented at the conference or submitted a paper for consideration. For your information, you can find all the presentations under the PRESENTATIONS tab located toward the top of this page.
Attendees voted on the location for the 2020 Users’ Conference and they picked Bozeman, Montana. However, due to expensive flights and a lack of nearby venues that can accommodate over 50 attendees, we have changed next year’s location to the choice with the second-most votes, St. Petersburg, Florida. We are already planning ahead for what we anticipate will be another exciting event. More details are to follow and we hope you can join us next October in Florida!
